Developer Log - 18/04/21

Approach: Spent some time adding more textures to the individual stall designs, feeling more confident in using substance painter for stylized texturing now, though improvement is welcome throughout this whole process. Depending on the response I get from the team, I believe I achieved an outcome that's rewarding for my progress and interesting to apply to the game.

Shooting Gallery - Improved on the wood texture to simulate dirt for the abandoned texture set and a much brighter hue with a supplied filter 'Baked Lighting Stylized' to give it a more vibrant appeal and contrast for the dream sequence. Wasn't able to render in Maya (Which is something I'll have to learn) but I exported these files from Substance painter, saved each texture as a separate file in Photoshop and applied to the Hypershade in Maya to create a Blinn (gives more reflectance and shine to the texture instead of Lambert).

Final result: [GREEN! I removed the texture for the target and forgot to set it to lambert]

Coconut Shy - [Decided to export the textures individually for tomorrow] Defined the workflow for each stall by doing both sets in Substance painter to save time and alter certain layers from each other to give a distinct contrast between the two. Though the counter looks like a bread loaf, I do enjoy the colour scheme and using color adobe is a great tool to use for a quick resource. At the moment, it doesn't exactly look like the stall is complete but I'll aim to export all the texturing onto the model in Maya and show the outcome later.

Hook-A-Duck- Same process with separating the sets, only difference is the variation of colours. I began to outline the textures with a bold black brush to resemble a cartoony / comic style, I'd forgotten to do the same for the others. The base was the simplest to texture since I had a prior psd that outlined the placement for the shadows and light areas of the model. Wooden posts only needed a slight variance in the gradient and saturation and the tent followed a similar layering as the tent of the coconut shy.
